Description
Why would Gondry inscribe this book to a 15th-century French poet?
Whenever I go to author events, I’ll buy 2 copies of what they’re promoting and ask the author to inscribe a copy to their favorite dead artist. Or writer. Or musician. Or poet. It just depends on who’s signing! Mark Oliver Everett from The Eels inscribed a copy of his book to Beethoven. Patti Smith signed a copy of Just Kids to Gogol. You get it.
Some authors scoff. Some authors decline. And some accept. One accused me playing a practical joke. Michel Gondry accepted. It’s always interesting to see who inscribes to whom. For me, it sheds a little more light on the author. I might start digging around my collection and offering up more of these. I’ve got a few.
